The Vim & Vigor entertainment will be a variety of cultural, contemporary, and demonstrations that showcase the diversity of San Diego County!  We will also have fun, interactive segments that will get your spirits up and entertain you while educating you on various healthy activities!

Cooking Demonstrator Bios

Heidi Sarmiento Wilson, MS MPH

Heidi has been a fitness professional for over 25 years and currently is a member of the Health, Nutrition, and Exercise Science faculty at San Diego State University, Mesa College, Cuyamaca College, and Kearny High School.  She holds 2 Masters Degrees from SDSU; one in Public Health (MPH) and one in Nutritional Sciences (MS).

She teaches the following college credit courses:  General Nutrition, Sports Nutrition, Cultural Nutrition, General Health Education, Public Health, Women’s Self Defense, Martial Arts, and Kickboxing.  She has received the Teacher of the Year Award at Cuyamaca College both in 2003 and 2015 for Excellence in Teaching.

Heidi is a nutritionist and personal trainer who offers healthy meal prep services for clients seeking to lose weight, eat for energy, or control or manage various health conditions while training a variety of clients in fitness and martial arts.

 

Rex and Joanne Rullan

Rex and Joanne Rullan are married and have 3 beautiful children – Jaslyn, Jordan and Jiselle. Residents of Chula Vista, both are involved within the Filipino Community. Rex and Joanne have been in the health and wellness industry for more than 4 years. Rex, also known as Chef Rocco, has taught Filipino cooking classes at Cooking 4 Life.

Some popular dishes he taught to cook were sinigang with no water, ginataang chicken adobo (which will be cooked at the festival) and a vegan pancit. Come hear their stories and learn why it is their mission to share the information they have learned over the last couple of years. Learn how he magically turns food in the refrigerator into mouthwatering meals to share with his family. Taste the healthier versions of a few of your favorite dishes. Be inspired! Be healthy!
